Wetenhall Cup Final

The penultimate match of our Club's 2022 outdoor championships was played on Friday 19 August. In a tight game, played under very hot conditions, it was Cliff who managed to keep his cool, narrowly triumphing against John in a close game.

The pictures below show John (L) and Cliff (R), with the victorious Cliff standing alone on conclusion of their game.

Outdoor Triples Winners

Another of our Club competitions was concluded on Wednesday 17 August, when the final of our Triples Championship was played. Following the recent very hot weather, the match was played under perhaps more typical summer conditions.

Contesting the final were teams comprising Cliff, Ron and Graham Meadows against John Abbot, Graham Kitchener and Neil.

SBC Partrick Cup Finalists

Club members Jon (L) and Neil (R) had already played against each other in an early round of another singles club competition this season. In that first meeting, Jon came out on top. On Saturday 30 July they competed in the final of our Partrick Cup competition. On this occasion it was Neil who took the honours.

SBC Outdoor Drawn Pairs Winners

A random draw paired Neil and Garry together to play as a team in our annual pairs competition. A repeat of their pairing in the 2021/22 indoor short-mat competition. This has proved to be a winning combination in both events.

Garry and Neil triumphed over Jon and Joy in the final in July.

SBC Ladies Outdoor Final

Club members Pauline and Joy competed in the final of our annual ladies championship on the afternoon of Wednesday 27 July 2022.

After a close fought contest, Pauline was declared the winner.

Club Indoor Championships
Awards Ceremony

On the afternoon of Friday 13 May 2021, members and guests enjoyed a social event in our pavilion building comprising  cream tea, quiz  and the distribution of awards from our winter indoor season.

We were delighted that Carol Smith, wife of very popular member Alex, who sadly passed away earlier this year, accepted our invitation to present prizes to the winners of the various categories of competition.

Kay Gillespie received the award for the overall indoor singles champion.
