Indoor Pairs Competition

On Saturday 11 March, our 2022/23 indoor pairs championship was held. With 12 entrants, the pairings were determined by a random draw. Each team played 5 ends against every other team.

The pairing of Garry and Melvyn were worthy winners, having lost none of their matches. Runners up in the competition were Rosemary and Helena.

Pictured below are the winners and runners up.

Club Indoor Singles Champion

A play-off between lady's indoor champ Kay, and men's winner Garry, resulted in Garry taking the honours and hence becoming the overall indoor Club champion. Many congratulations to Garry, pictured below.

Indoor Mens Singles Competition

The final match of our 2022/23 indoor mens singles championship determined the ultimate winner of the competition on Saturday 11 February 2023.

Having both played superbly in their previous games, Garry overcame the challenge of Graham M, to take victory in the final match and the overall title by a single point.

The picture below shows Graham (L) and winner Garry (R)

Indoor Ladies Singles Competition

Our 2022/23 indoor ladies championship was decided on Saturday 4 February 2023.

Reigning club indoor champion Kay was victorious in all of her round-robin matches and therefore retains the ladies indoor cup which she won last season.

Competition entrants shown in the picture below are (L to R) Joy, Kay, Pauline and Helena.

Indoor Fours Competition

With our indoor season playing against other local clubs going very successfully, Saturday 21 January 2023 saw another of our internal competitions decided.

Three teams finished the event with the same number of victories. Based on shots for and against, the team (shown L to R) of Steve, Garry (Skip), Melvyn and Neil were the winners.

Indoor Triples Competition

The first of our Club indoor competitions of the winter season was held on Saturday 7 January 2023.
Each triples team played a 5 end match against every other team.
At the end of play, with two teams tied on points after all matches had been played, a count back of shots determined that by the narrowest possible margin (a single winning shot difference) the team of Steve, John Y and Garry were the victors. It was especially pleasing to see new member Steve - who incidentally played for the first time with new woods on the day - getting his name on the honours board after playing for just a couple of months.

Runners up were Rosemary, Graham R and Pauline.

The picture shows the winning team from L-R Steve, John Y, Garry.

Veterans Pairs Final

The final outdoor club match of the 2022 season was played on the afternoon of Wednesday 14 September.

In a close, low scoring match, it was the pairing of Jon and Graham K who triumphed over Garry and Cliff.

The group picture below shows (L-R) Jon, Graham, Garry and Cliff

Wetenhall Cup Final

The penultimate match of our Club's 2022 outdoor championships was played on Friday 19 August. In a tight game, played under very hot conditions, it was Cliff who managed to keep his cool, narrowly triumphing against John in a close game.

The pictures below show John (L) and Cliff (R), with the victorious Cliff standing alone on conclusion of their game.

Outdoor Triples Winners

Another of our Club competitions was concluded on Wednesday 17 August, when the final of our Triples Championship was played. Following the recent very hot weather, the match was played under perhaps more typical summer conditions.

Contesting the final were teams comprising Cliff, Ron and Graham Meadows against John Abbot, Graham Kitchener and Neil.

The victorious team are shown below. From left - John, Neil Graham K

SBC Partrick Cup Finalists

Club members Jon (L) and Neil (R) had already played against each other in an early round of another singles club competition this season. In that first meeting, Jon came out on top. On Saturday 30 July they competed in the final of our Partrick Cup competition. On this occasion it was Neil who took the honours.

SBC Outdoor Drawn Pairs Winners

A random draw paired Neil and Garry together to play as a team in our annual pairs competition. A repeat of their pairing in the 2021/22 indoor short-mat competition. This has proved to be a winning combination in both events.

Garry and Neil triumphed over Jon and Joy in the final in July.

SBC Ladies Outdoor Final

Club members Pauline and Joy competed in the final of our annual ladies championship on the afternoon of Wednesday 27 July 2022.

After a close fought contest, Pauline was declared the winner.

Club Honours

Our Club honours boards are updated annually to record the winners of our various outdoor and indoor competitions.
